Former AICPA Chair Kimberly Ellison-Taylor Joins BLI’s Team of Thought Leaders

Kimberly Ellison-Taylor, former chair of the American Institute of CPAs and the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants, is the latest addition to the Business Learning Institute’s roster of thought leaders who are committed to helping the accounting and finance profession become more future-ready.

Ellison-Taylor, who currently serves as global executive director of finance thought leadership for Oracle, will author a variety of courses for the Business Learning Institute about the intersection of emerging technologies and the future of work and finance. Among her BLI course titles are:

It’s a homecoming of sorts for Ellison-Taylor, who served as chair of the Maryland Association of CPAs’ Board of Directors during the 2010-11 fiscal year. She was born and raised in Baltimore and, despite her global reach and her influence on a global stage, she still proudly identifies as a Marylander.

Ellison-Taylor’s career achievements include leadership roles at Oracle, Motorola, KPMG, Prince George’s County Government, and NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center. She has achieved extraordinary results that include leading technology operations (including program management, applications development, network / desktops, enterprise risk management and a data center environment), change initiatives, customer relationship management, client delivery, systems implementation, and transformation as well as business development and capture management for hardware, software, and services.

Ellison-Taylor has received numerous awards and recognitions for her leadership in the profession, including recognition as one of the 100 Most Influential People in Accounting by Accounting Today and as one of the 25 Most Powerful Women in Accounting by CPA Practice Advisor.

She serves on the Board of Advisors for the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business and on the Advisory Board for the University of South Carolina Upstate’s George Dean Johnson Jr. School of Business and Economics.

Ellison-Taylor continues to serve as a leader in the profession as a member of the AICPA Assurance Services Executive Committee and as vice chair for the AICPA’s National Commission for Diversity and Inclusion.

She holds a Certified Public Accountant license, the Chartered Global Management Accountant designation, and the Certified Information Systems Auditor credential.
